Built by local rivals Bayern München and 1860 München, the Munich Football Arena was opened in 2005 although Bayern have since taken full ownership of the stadium.
The ground staged the 2006 FIFA World Cup opening match between Germany and Costa Rica before hosting three further group fixtures as well as a round of 16 tie and France’s semi-final win against Portugal.
The stadium has seen its fair share of drama since it first opened for business, not least the final of the 2012 UEFA Champions League when Chelsea defied home advantage to beat Bayern on penalties.
The Munich Football Arena held three UEFA EURO 2020 group matches, all involving Germany, plus eventual winners Italy's 2-1 quarter-final victory against Belgium. Since it will also be a venue for UEFA EURO 2024, it will be the first stadium in history to host games in consecutive UEFA European Championships.

A qualified lawyer, Munich-born Dr Brych is a top-level referee, notably overseeing Real Madrid’s 4-1 win against Juventus in the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League final.

A 78km-long network of paths situated in over 910 acres of land in central Munich, the Englischer Garten is a great place to relax. The northern part is suitable for long walks and exercise, while the southern end features the 25m-tall Chinese Tower and one of the city's most beautiful beer gardens.
Surf on the Eisbach wave
The Eisbach (literal translation: ice stream) is a man-made river that runs through the English Garden, which features a celebrated standing wave. At around 50cm tall, the wave serves as a year-round destination for surfers and tourists alike.
Get cultured at Kunstareal
The Maxvorstadt has plenty of galleries and museums, with the Kunstareal (translation: art district) offering access to thousands of years of great art. With plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants nearby, it's a great place to explore at a leisurely pace.

The UEFA EURO 2024 final tournament is scheduled to take place between 14 June and 14 July 2024.
The qualifying draw took place in Frankfurt on 9 October 2022, with the final tournament draw on 2 December 2023 in Hamburg.
